Happy Halloween

Planet Blue's Halloween-inspired look book, showcasing a rather chic take on the iconic image of "Dia de los Muertos."The trend has been catching on, especially in Montreal where numerous girls coloured the streets with similarly painted faces on Halloween.

Translated in English, "Day of the Dead" is an important tradition embedded in Mexican culture, where family members gather in celebration of lost loved ones. The concept of death and mourning resonates perfectly with the darker side of Halloween. This shoot is a refreshing break from the so called "slutty"costumes that filter Halloween weekend. With a little imagination, accompanied obviously by the wonders of makeup, even death can look hot.

LOVE PAMELA LOVE

Pamela Love's Fall 2011 collection.

Living in Montreal, sunny fields of green and short shorts make up an uncommon combination during our fall season. For us, the term "fall" resonates memories of hot chocolate, crisp winds, and oversized knit sweaters. Even though these pictures provide a contrast to the fall season I'm used to, it becomes obvious that these pieces belong to unique category of their own, regardless of seasonal changes. There is something incredibly mystical about this collection, it's pieces looking like they've once belonged to an underground crystal mine. The jewelry literally jumps out at you, almost with a mind of it's own. There's nothing you can really do about it, except to just sit and observe in amazement.  What's even more awesome about this collection is the pictures themselves, who compliment the jewelry so accurately. Whoever was behind the creativity of the shoot is sheer genius. It just seems like the world captured in these pictures is totally separate from our own, and 100 times more interesting. The combat boots and fluorescent pink hair also provide a new take on the supposed daintiness of female jewelry, something less refined with a rugged appeal. And I'm in love all over again.
